“AMERICANS”
Thoreau said Americans live lives of quiet desperation.
Americans today live lives of noisy dissipation.
Televisions and computers encapsule our lives.
We resemble electronic bees in crowded beehives.
We string each other with demented depravity.
We wallow in self indulgent lack of gravity.
We spin out of control with drugs and dope.
We give the impression
That we're at the end of our rope.
